About Us

In 1982 Steve & Sherri Kukla founded San Diego Off Road Magazine which grew to serve off road enthusiasts far beyond the county of San Diego. Moving to the off road community of Ocotillo Wells CA in 2004, they incorporated as S&S Publishing, Inc. shortly thereafter and in January 2010 changed the name of the magazine to S&S Off Road Magazine.

Steve started riding in 1968 at the age of 14. Desert riding, canyon (when there were canyons to ride in) and flat track racing have always been his favorites. Over the past 40 years we have enjoyed motorcycles, dune buggies, quads, a baja bug, short course cars and a few four wheel drive vehicles.

Kids are a high priority in our life

Thundering Trails camps was founded by Steve & Sherri in 2006 to provide mini bike riding adventures for kids from disadvantaged backgrounds. Kids come to camp for free and spend the weekend having a blast with mini bikes, hiking, campfire, treasure hunts, games, chapel service, s’mores, great food and just hanging out with dedicated adult mentors.
Some of them have a parent in prison, some are living in shelters, some have other challenging family issues and others come from low income single parent homes. The camp is operated on the 50-acre off road ranch in Ocotillo Wells owned by Steve & Sherri. Approximately 4-8 times a year a group of 3-12 kids come to experience an awesome off road desert adventure.
Thundering Trails is a California non-profit corporation and all donations are tax-deductible. To see hundreds of camp photos visit www.facebook.com/thunderingtrails
